You have cried out to God and anyone that will listen that you want to heal. You want to stop feeling the pain, live without anger and move on. You are tired of the past creeping up and cutting you down.
Many people that encountered Christ called out for healing, and did all they could to get His attention but calling out was the first step. Understand that some healing processes take steps on our part. Taking back your power to heal depends on the steps you are willing to take.
Jesus does the healing, you prepare yourself for the new healed you. Sometimes it means letting go of what or who is holding you back.
Mark 10:46-52
46 Then they reached Jericho, and as Jesus and his disciples left town, a large crowd followed him. A blind beggar named Bartimaeus (son of Timaeus) was sitting beside the road. 47 When Bartimaeus heard that Jesus of Nazareth was nearby, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”
48 “Be quiet!” many of the people yelled at him.
But he only shouted louder, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”
49 When Jesus heard him, he stopped and said, “Tell him to come here.”
So they called the blind man. “Cheer up,” they said. “Come on, he’s calling you!” 50 Bartimaeus threw aside his coat, jumped up, and came to Jesus.
51 “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked.
“My Rabbi,[j]” the blind man said, “I want to see!”
52 And Jesus said to him, “Go, for your faith has healed you.” Instantly the man could see, and he followed Jesus down the road.
Here is a blind man that was so desperate to heal that he cried out with all his heart. He didn’t stop when the people told him to be quiet, he didn’t stop on the first try, he wasn’t going to give up until it happened. No matter what it took he was going to be healed. He wanted it badly enough to do all it took to get the healing. He got Jesus attention, He ignored his haters, he yelled it out until Jesus stopped for him and when the moment came to get his healing, he dropped his coat because it was going to slow him down.
The coat was his lifeline. The coat would protect him from the beating sun, cover him from the pouring rain and heat him up in the cold night. He needed his coat, until now. After Jesus called him for his healing, he knew he wouldn’t need a coat. He knew it would only be baggage. The moment he was exposed to something greater he dropped something lesser. – TD Jakes
